multifunctional printer, printer review, pages per minute, best printers around, copy functionsOverview:

Manufactured by Copystar the CS-1820 provides low volume document production as a multifunctional printer. It has a compressed shape along with a strong system that allows a user to print, copy, scan, and the option to fax. This printer is one of the most appropriate options that small offices should consider.
Pros:

With whopping speeds of 18 pages per minute for standard paper, and 15 pages per minute for legal paper, the production speed of the Copystar CS-1820 is phenomenal. And even more impressive is that these speeds apply to printing and copying tasks as well. Initial copy results reach as quickly as 9.5 seconds or lower, and initial print results reach 8 seconds which is remarkable. When it comes to resolution the CS-1820 is equally impressive as it has a standard of 600 x 600 dpi; and with additions such as the Fast 1200 Mode it increases to 1800 x 600 dpi, and KIR increases it to 2400 x 600 dpi. With the ability to be upgraded to 320MB, the printer is initially equipped with 96MB of memory. When upgraded, the printer can handle the higher resolutions easily as well as it other abilities. On top of the already awesome features of this printer it also includes zoom capabilities to customize jobs that require magnification. The zoom ration runs from 50-200% and can be adjusted by 1% increments.
Additional features of copying include imaging methods for text and photo productions that include automatic and manual exposure levels. To save toner and power it has an ECO function that saves money on production costs. The CS-1820 can copy continually for up to 999 copies and has the ability to reset back to 1 when finished. To expand on the copying features, it has the capability to electronically sort, select paper, prioritizes copying and gives you a choice of 8 job programs and a job cache.
Embedded with a controller, the CS-1820 has 300MHz PowerPC 750 processor that shares the RAM with all the other functions available. The printer is network capable as well as having an optional fax and network faxing. It can handle protocols such as NETBEUI, TCP/IP, and AppleTalk. When faxing there is a G3 modem installed that transfers data at 33 Kbps. It normally takes 3 seconds per page when transferring and if you are doing a quick scan this time is cut down to 2.5 seconds. If you need the option to scan in color this printer has the ability. You can scan in resolutions that range from 200, 300, 400, and 600 dpi. When scanning in black and white it performs at 18 ppm and in color at 5 ppm.

The printer comes with a standard 250 page paper tray and an additional 50 page multipurpose tray for media paper. If needed, you can request an additional paper tray that holds another 250 pages bringing your total to 550 sheets. On top of the paper trays the printer is equipped with a 50 page document feeder that will handle 18 ppm of original content and paper weights from 13 to 32 lbs.
Cons:

The small size of the CS-1820 could become complicated when it comes to handling large volumes of production. Measuring 19.5 x 16.6 x 17.9 inches the Copystar CS-1820 this multifunctional printer cannot process high volume for an office.
