With fast print speeds and extremely detailed line accuracy, the 44 inch HP DesignJet T770 brings true draft printing quality in-house for a time saving, affordable large format print option. Though the DesignJet series printers come with extremely high price tags, small teams will find them invaluable for meeting tight deadlines and saving trips to the copy mat.
Also available in a 24 inch format, the HP DesignJet T770 gives buyers the option of reducing cost when the full 44 inch roll printing of the large model will not be required. At fast quality setting, the T770 can print at 28 seconds per page to D paper, or about 103 D prints per hour when using plain media. Color images vary greatly in speeds, with fast quality onto coated media at 445 ft²/hr and 33.3 ft²/hr on glossy media.
Margins for rolled paper can be as small as 0.2 x 0.2 x 0.2 x 0.2 inches, while sheets of paper can have margins of 0.2 x 0.67 x 0.2 x 0.2 inches. HP thermal inkjet technology allows for the usage of dye based color ink (C, M, Y, G, PK) and pigment based matte black ink. Ink cartridges are available in standard yield 69 ml cartridges and high yield 130 ml cartridges.
The unit’s hardware is backed by a standard one year limited warranty from HP but, considering the immense cost of the printer, buyers may consider one of the many one to three year warranty upgrade options available that include next business day response and even four hour on site response possibilities. Network installation can also be purchased directly from HP.
The dimensions of the 44 inch model are understandably large, with a footprint of 69.7 in. x 27.6 in. x 41.3 in. (W x D x H), and its weight is an extremely hefty 244 pounds. Thankfully, HP provides a stand with wheels, so mobility is possible. HP also makes things easier than usual with a space saving, front loading top roll that allows media loading to be easy and seamless, minimizing user downtime, and further adding to the value of the machine to the smaller sized office. The unit even comes with a built in network card that makes hooking up everyone on your team easy.
The HP DesignJet T770 accommodates huge input files with its 8 GB built in dedicated memory, and 160 GB built in hard drive. For a large scale printer such as this, enormous amounts of memory are essential to absolutely minimize the risk of printing errors that could result in heavy costs. Designers and drafters alike will appreciate the dark area fills, well defined lines, and improved optical density of this device. A minimal line width of 0.0008 inches means even the smallest details will be attended to and 0.1% line accuracy ensures quality all around. The HP DesignJet T770 is a heavy duty machine with a heavy duty price tag, but is sure to save design studios both time and money in the long run.
