Like its sister unit, the Gestetner 2212, the Gestetner 2712 offers raw processing power and output speed than cannot be matched by lower end units, and, with the 2712, an over all speed boost up to 27 pages per minute is incorporated into the hardware, over the 2212’s 22 pages per minute. In addition to rapid output times, the unit also offers extensive and comprehensive hardware addition options making it one of the most customizable devices on the market, allowing your business of any size get the optimal amount of product from your investment, with little or no money wasted on features you don’t require.
The Gestetner 2712 comes standard with 2 x 500 sheet paper trays, and can be expanded with an optional 2 x 500 sheet paper bank with no addition to the unit’s overall size due to intelligent hardware design. Two optional finisher add ons are available for purchase, including a large 1,000 sheet finisher with a 50 staple capacity, and also a small 500 sheet finisher with a 30 sheet staple capacity.
An automatic duplexer is also optional for double sided printing which can reduce overall paper usage by as much as half, and therefore reduce operating costs significantly. A 100 sheet bypass tray and a platen glass cover are just a couple more of the extensive list of expansion options, which includes a handset, an interchange unit, an internal shift tray, a one bin tray, a 2,000 sheet large capacity tray, and a bridge unit, among others.
The Gestetner 2712’s scanner option runs at an incredible speed of 42 scans per minute, though only at 200 dot per inch resolution. Quality can be set up to 600 x 600 dots per inch, but SPM speed will suffer. Twain speed runs at 29 scans per minute, again at 200 dots per inch. With a standard 32 MBs of RAM built in, most scanner projects will run without a hitch, but an upgrade to 64 MBs is optional, and can help when dealing with very complex imagery. Duplex scanning is possible when the additional hardware is incorporated.
Like the scanner option, optional printing is also impressive, operating at a maximum of 600 dots per inch in both PCL6 and RPCS modes. PCL5e and PS Level 3 resolutions are also selectable. Also like scanning, 32 MBs of expandable memory comes standard and is upgradable to 64 MBs. A 6 GB hard drive can be incorporated with the Gestetner 2712, which is in turn shared between printer and copy machine functions for impressive storage capacity and also multiple, simultaneous project spooling.
The fax option includes a 33.6 Kbps with 64 Kbps G4 being optional. This results in a transmission speed of only 3 seconds per page, supplemented by a scan speed of 0.66 seconds. Duplex reception and transmission are optional, with the proper hardware, and a 400 page memory capacity makes even huge receptions convertible to double sided output, further complimenting the Gestetner 2712’s almost endless functionality, and value for your business.
